Tree Steward Entry-Level

Starting within the Environmental Advantage team, the Tree Steward is integral for hands-on tree care and equipment operation. This role demands active learning, positive collaboration, and rigorous adherence to safety standards.

Tree Steward Job Description

Objective:

Acquire foundational tree care skills, mastering equipment operation, especially chainsaws, and contribute significantly to team tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Learning and Development
• Follow directives from Operations and Sales Manager, Sales Consultants, and Lead Tree Stewards.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills when interacting with team members and customers, whether in person or over the phone.
• Maintain a positive attitude, fostering healthy team dynamics and customer satisfaction.

2. Tree Care Operations
• Engage in tasks like pruning, trimming, and removing trees and shrubs varied in tools, including hand pruners, hand saws, pole saws, power pruners, and notably, chainsaws.
• Learn and practice tree planting techniques.
• Get introduced to the Plant Health Spray system for tree fertilization.
• Learn and operate company vehicles, trailers, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

3. Maintenance and Upkeep
• Wash, grease, and perform light maintenance on equipment, including basic tasks like oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
• Responsible for the upkeep of tools, ensuring their longevity and optimal performance.

4. Documentation and Reporting
• Diligently fill out and submit bi-weekly timesheets.
• Turn in Tree Equipment Checklists weekly to the Lead Tree Steward or designated Lead.
• Report any equipment or operational issues promptly.

5. Safety First
• Adhere strictly to company safety guidelines, especially when operating chainsaws and heavy machinery.
• Consistently wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on job sites or when handling equipment elsewhere.
• Promote a culture of safety within the team, raising any concerns or suggestions for improvements.

6. Team Collaboration and Problem Solving
• Collaborate closely with team members to ensure efficient and safe operations.
• Actively engage in team discussions, brainstorming sessions, and problem-solving activities.

7. Customer Interaction and Service
• Uphold the highest standards of customer service during on-site interactions.
• Handle any customer feedback or concerns with professionalism and courtesy.

8. Miscellaneous Tasks
• Efficiently use basic tools like rakes, shovels, tree rigging equipment, and wheelbarrows.
• Stay open to learning and executing other tasks aligning with Environmental Advantage’s services.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Basic knowledge of trees and plants is a plus, but not mandatory.
• Keen interest in operating tools and heavy machinery, especially chainsaws.
• Commitment to safety protocols and best practices.
• Physical stamina for demanding outdoor tasks in varied weather conditions.
• A proactive and problem-solving attitude.
• Class D MN Driver’s License with insurable driving record

Growth Path:

High-performing individuals can progress to the Intermediate Tree Steward role, embracing more responsibilities and advanced techniques.

Pay Range: $19.00 – $23.00 per hour

The Environmental Sales Consultant creates tree care plans for customer properties, generates and meets sales goals within a designated territory, and delivers prompt, high-quality customer service. This role requires active learning, effective collaboration, and compliance with company protocols.

Maximize sales, foster customer relationships, and ensure projects are executed to the highest standards, optimizing business outcomes and customer satisfaction.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Sales Leadership and Territory Growth
    1. Drive sales objectives within the designated territory, nurturing and expanding customer portfolios.
    2. Engage in proactive customer outreach, generating leads and securing repeat business.
  2. Proposal Generation and Communication Excellence
    1. Expediently craft comprehensive proposals utilizing Environmental Advantage pricing models and processes.
    2. Maintain open channels of communication with customers, ensuring clarity and trust.
  3. Project Oversight and Documentation
    1. Translate customer requirements into detailed work orders, ensuring seamless execution by the production team.
    2. Regularly monitor project progress, preemptively addressing challenges and ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
    3. Maintain and regularly update accurate internal reports on a weekly basis.
  4. Quality Assurance and Customer Satisfaction
    1. Instill and oversee rigorous quality control measures, setting benchmarks for excellence.
    2. Engage directly with customers to gauge satisfaction, addressing feedback promptly to uphold the company’s reputation.
  5. Team Collaboration and Strategy
    1. Coordinate with fellow Sales Consultants, General Manager, and Crew Leaders to streamline operations and strategize for collective growth.
    2. Share field insights and collaborate on refining sales pitches and customer interactions.
  6. Financial Management and Accountability
    1. Handle invoicing processes diligently, ensuring timely revenue capture and customer satisfaction.
    2. Monitor project budgets, balancing profitability with quality deliverable.
  7. Branding and Representation
    1. Champion Environmental Advantage’s ethos in every customer interaction, setting the standard for service and professionalism.
    2. Act as the face of the company is sales and customer engagements, cultivating lasting relationships.
  8. Regulatory and Guideline Adherence
    1. Ensure consistency in processes by adhering to Environmental Advantage’s guidelines and best practices.
    2. Drive compliance and maintain the company’s reputation for ethical and high-standard operations.

 

Growth Path:

Exemplary Environmental Sales Consultants can progress to elevated strategic roles within Environmental Advantage, shaping the company’s direction and expanding its customer base.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education and Certification: A degree in Environmental Studies/Science, Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture or a similar field is advantageous. Certifications like the ISA Certified Arborist or Tree Risk Assessment Qualification are a plus.
  • Experience: Prior experience in the tree care industry or in a sales or customer service role is essential.
  • Tech-Savviness: Familiarity with CRM systems or project management tools to keep track of customers and projects.
  • Soft Skills: Exhibit adaptability, resilience, and multitasking abilities, especially when juggling multiple projects or facing unexpected challenges.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct occasional field visits, assessing site conditions, and iterating with customers or the production team.
